Carolinas HealthCare System Annual Report

Annual Report 2009

During 2009, Carolinas HealthCare experienced a year of growth despite an economic environment that stalled nearly every other business sector. Indeed, our pace of growth was our fastest ever as we finalized agreements with Stanly Health Services, Scotland Health Care System, AnMed Health and Cannon Memorial Hospital resulting in the affiliation of six hospitals representing more than 850 licensed beds and 5,500 employees across North and South Carolina.

Our record-setting growth continues as three western N.C. hospitals joined CHS on Jan. 1, 2010 through our affiliation with MedWest Health, significantly improving that region's healthcare access for years to come.

While we are proud of our organization's financial successes and expansion of our footprint, none of this would be possible without our people. Buildings and equipment are important - but nothing produces results like a group of individuals united by a common understanding:

  • Kindness counts
  • Teamwork wins
  • Every person can and should make a difference.

These are the principles of Care Without Compromise, the theme of the 2009 Annual Report.
